Toddler Adventures in Jamaica at Hilton Rose Hall Montego Bay
Traveling with toddlers is no easy feat, but in my experience, it’s ALWAYS worth it. It takes a little extra work; however, when you plan accordingly, it’s full of fun!
I firmly believe that traveling with your kids at a young age helps them develop an appreciation for experience and it allows you to make so many memories with them along the way.
We are an aviation household, so you can imagine that travel is a huge core value of ours.
As a family, we typically travel 10 or more times a year, either by car or airplane, and we love to visit new places as much as possible.
In March, we decided to pack up the whole family and fly to Jamaica for a week’s stay at Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa in Montego Bay. ✈️
A Mom’s Review of Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa – Montego Bay, Jamaica
If you're unfamiliar with Montego Bay, it's located on the north shore of Jamaica and is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. Several airlines fly into Montego Bay (MBJ), and we took two flights. Our flight started out from Houston (IAH), a small layover at Miami (MIA), and then we were off to Montego Bay.
This area is filled with tons of hotels, restaurants and doubles as a port for cruise ships. Montego Bay is really known for its beautiful beaches, including the notable Doctor’s Cave Beach, in addition to other attractions such as lovely gardens, golf courses, and other adventures.
Upon my research, I quickly found that Hilton Rose Hall was one of the most top recommended choices in Montego Bay if you’re traveling as a family. It does have on-site kid-friendly non-motorized water sports, Kids Klub program and activities, and an amazing water park.
For our trip, we opted for an all inclusive resort and chose the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa – a tropical, oceanfront paradise that’s set directly on the Caribbean and framed by the majestic Jamaican mountains.
When it comes to traveling with toddlers in tow, I always consider my list of “must-haves” and try my best to seek out stays that have these readily available or easily accessible.
For our family, that “must have” list looks like:
Toddler Friendly Water Activities
Toddler Friendly Park
Toddler Friendly Dining
Family Oriented Entertainment
Clean Restrooms
Ice Cream / Fun Special Treats
I was pleased to find that Hilton Rose Hall checked 5 out of those 6 boxes, with the exception of toddler friendly dining.
This resort has 11 different options when it comes to dining and the options vary based on breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks.
During the day, we didn’t struggle as much with food since most of the time we were eating poolside, but dinner time is where we saw the most challenge. Most of the dinner options required reservations and were a little more upscale than what we prefer when traveling as a family.
Having a more casual dining option to utilize at night time would have made this stay a 10/10!
Despite all of that, we made it work and opted for a balcony dinner a few nights, so we could soak in the gorgeous views and still enjoy the live music being held down below.
Aside from the dining, I was overall very pleased and satisfied with our stay here! During the day, we were able to explore the grounds, which were filled with luscious green areas for the kids to roam free and there were a few hammocks scattered about that allowed for relaxation.
Additionally, the resort had private access to the beach and we were lucky enough to snag some beach chairs under the palm trees one morning. This made our beach day so enjoyable and gave our girls the ability to experience sand for the very first time! 🌴🏖
One thing to note is that the resort did have private cabanas available, but you most likely will need to book those in advance if you plan to utilize them. They were all booked during our stay, but we were perfectly fine without them and didn't have to pay the extra cost!
In addition to beach access, the resort also has plenty of pool areas along with an amazing water park that we spent a TON of our time at. The Sugar Mill Falls Water Park is the second largest water complex in the Caribbean, complete with a 280-foot water slide, lazy river, swim-up bar, three terraced pools, lagoons, and waterfalls.
In addition to all of that, you’ll also find daily live music along with activities and games for kids of all ages to enjoy! This area was of course a hit with our kids and really made the trip so worth it since everything was right on-site.
Overall, I would say that the Hilton Rose Hall Resort and Spa fulfilled our needs during our stay and made for a very enjoyable family vacation. It’s somewhere that I would confidently recommend if you’re looking to travel to Jamaica with your family and I would even return here myself!
