Why We Chose This Caribbean Resort in Jamaica

1. Jamaica - Is not just a single person destination; it's an experience! Its vibrant culture, music, and the warmth of its people make it a unique Caribbean paradise. With toddlers, the idea of exposing them to a melting pot of cultures seemed like a fantastic educational opportunity. Jamaica's natural beauty, from its stunning beaches to its lush mountains, promised a perfect blend of relaxation in your ocean front room sand adventure.

2.  Montego Bay- If you're unfamiliar with Montego Bay, it's located on the north shore of Jamaica. It is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the area. This area has several hotels, restaurants, and doubles as a port for cruise ships. Montego Bay is known for its beautiful beaches, including the notable Doctor's Cave Beach, and other attractions, such as lovely gardens, golf courses, and other adventures.

3. Inclusive Resort Experience - For our trip this was one of the deciding factors., we opted for an all-inclusive . We chose the Hilton Rose Hall Resort & Spa – a tropical, oceanfront paradise set directly on the Caribbean and framed by the majestic Jamaican mountains. Upon my research, I quickly found that Hilton Rose Hall was one of the top recommended choices in Montego Bay if you're traveling as a family, as it does have on-site kid-friendly features such as  non-motorized water sports, a Kidz Klub program and activities, and a fantastic water park area.  Insider Tip we went during spring break and it was full of families with kids of all different ages.

Here’s a detailed look at what you can enjoy:

  • Sugar Mill Falls Water Park | Lazy River and Water Slides

The Sugar Mill Falls Water Park is the second-largest water park in the Caribbean and was a highlight of our stay. It features a 280-foot water slide, lazy river, swim-up bar, three terraced pools, lagoons, and waterfalls. It’s a paradise for water lovers of all ages.

The lazy river and water slides were a massive hit with our family. The lazy river is perfect for a relaxing float, while the water slides provide thrills for kids and adults alike. We spent countless hours enjoying these fun water activities.

  • Kid-Friendly Features and Kidz Klub

The resort is exceptionally kid-friendly, with features like the Kidz Klub program offering a variety of supervised activities designed to keep children entertained and engaged. The Kidz Klub, catering to ages 4-12, includes arts and crafts, games, and daily supervised activities. For older kids, the Teen Zone is perfect, featuring console gaming (Wii, PS3, Xbox 360), air hockey, foosball, and more. It opens from 12:30 PM to 11:00 PM, providing a fun-filled bean bag comfy atmosphere.

Dining Options During Family Vacation With A Picky Eater

This resort has 11 different options when it comes to dining, and the options vary based on breakfast, lunch, dinner, and drinks. During the day, we didn't struggle as much with food since most of the time, we were eating poolside, but dinner time is where we saw the most challenge. We have a picky eater; next time, we will pack accordingly.

Most of the dinner options required reservations and were more upscale than we prefer when traveling as a family. A more casual dining option at night would have made this stay a 10/10! Despite all of that, we made it work and opted for a balcony dinner for a few nights to soak in the gorgeous views and still enjoy the live music being held down below.

  1. Seaside Grill and Luna Di Mare

    • Two of our favorite dining experiences were at the Seaside Grill and Luna Di Mare. The Seaside Grill offers a relaxed atmosphere with delicious seafood dishes and stunning ocean views. Luna Di Mare, the resort’s Italian restaurant, provided a more upscale dining experience with a variety of classic Italian dishes that were simply mouth-watering.

  2. Coffee Shop and Ice Cream Shop

    • For those who need their caffeine fix, the cozy coffee shop on-site is perfect for a relaxing break. My daughter especially loved this spot as it also doubles as an ice cream shop, making it her favorite stop while I grabbed my coffee. It was the perfect place for a sweet treat and a little break from the sun.

  3. Saltfish Breakfast and Fresh Fruit

  • One of the highlights of our mornings was the saltfish breakfast, a traditional Jamaican dish that was both flavorful and satisfying. Paired with an array of fresh fruit, it was a delicious way to start the day. The resort offers a variety of breakfast options that cater to all tastes, ensuring everyone in the family starts their day off right.

Local Exploration

We didn't take a day to explore Montego Bay's local attractions, but the authentic Jamaican experience was a part of the resort's charm. From delicious jerk chicken stalls to local crafts markets, the inclusive hotel amenities added much fun to our trip. The staff members at the front desk were always helpful, and the common areas provided great views of the surroundings.

I highly recommend traveling to Jamaica with your family, and I would even return here myself! Despite traveling with a toddler having its challenges, the memories you create are irreplaceable.
